The companies H.C. Starck Tungsten GmbH (Goslar) and TANIOBIS (Goslar) alternately donate the prize for the best doctoral thesis in the field of inorganic solid-state chemistry and materials research. The prize is awarded annually by the Division of Solid-State Chemistry & Materials Research of the German Chemical Society (GDCh)
.Since 2016, the Division has awarded this prize every two years to individuals who have made outstanding scientific achievements in the field of solid-state chemistry & Materials Research. The named lecture usually comprises four lectures, the first of which is usually given directly after the award ceremony at the Division conference.
The Wilhelm Klemm Foundation awards an annual PhD Award for an outstanding doctoral thesis in the field of inorganic solid state chemistry.
