Status Quo

Birthday letter to all GDCh members turning 60, 65 and 70 years old (approx. 3000 letters per year). The letter also provides information about the activities of the SEC and invites them to join the SEC.

Membership Management: Current membership lists and welcoming new SEC members (5-10 per month).

Member recruitment: Active participation in meetings of Division Chairs, regular contact with JCF. Member marketing: Flyer . Member recruitment campaign (since 2023). Membership recruitment in combination with annual conference participation, appointment as a Gold Member (letter from the GDCh), SEC Online lecture announcement, etc.

Pilot poster to recruit members from other Divisions when they retire (e.g. retired teachers).

Open SEC membership recruitment for active recruitment of associate members

Objectives

• 20% of retired GDCh members are SEC members (approx. 600-700).
• Every GDCh member receives a birthday letter on their 60th, 65th and 70th birthday (target: see above). GDCh members who are already SEC members receive a different text.
• Download the current table of SEC members on the first of each month. Identification of members who joined in the previous month. Welcome of the new SEC members with information about the activities of the SEC. A table of SEC members is available to all SEC Board members in the Workspace.
• Increasing the proportion of women, teachers, associate members, from certain Divisions
• Continuously recruiting new members

Projects under consideration

• Extensive automation of SEC membership management in close cooperation with the GDCh digitisation team (Maximilian Bräutigam, Alexander Lorey)
• Every member who applies for the retirement tariff will be referred to SEC membership
• Cooperation with analytical chemistry (including process analytics)
