The GDCh Division of Macromolecular Chemistry was founded in 1948 and currently has over 1300 members - including over a quarter student and young members. The Division meets the current challenges in research, application and education in macromolecular chemistry and related disciplines through intensive internal and external exchange and makes an effective contribution to maintaining and promoting the competitiveness of Germany as a centre of science and industry.

Our goal is to promote science and research through

• Exchange of information and experience beyond the boundaries of the polymer science disciplines,
• Discussion and cooperation with other GDCh Divisions as well as with associations and organisations in the field of polymer science,
• Dialogue on social developments,
• Dialogue on social developments, challenges and common goals of universities, institutes and industry,
• Ensuring excellent education and expanding a diverse university landscape and
• Promoting and supporting students and young academics as well as participating in the further training of professionals.

We pursue this goal through

, among other things

• Organising an international scientific lecture event, the Division conference "MAKRO" (even years),
• Hosting the postgraduate-workshop-university with selection of the Reimund-Stadler-Award and of Macro-Scholarships,
• awarding Travel grants,
• Contribution to the training programme of the GDCh (GDCh.academy).
