The Division Water Chemistry Society of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) has been awarding the Water Chemistry Society Prize at its annual conference WATER since 1971, provided that the candidates are worthy of the prize. The prize recognises outstanding scientific achievements by young scientists in the field of water chemistry and is awarded to people who completed their doctorates no more than ten years ago. The award includes an award certificate and prize money of 3000 euros sponsored by the Walter-Kölle-Stiftung.The award is decided by all unbiased members of the Executive Board of the Wasserchemische Gesellschaft.
The award, originally established under the name "Fachgruppenpreis", has been known as the "Preis der Wasserchemischen Gesellschaft - gefördert durch die Walter-Kölle-Stiftung" since 2011.
The prize has not yet been announced.

Objective
The Water Chemistry Division of the German Chemical Society (GDCh) awards the Prize of the Water Chemistry Society - sponsored by the Walter Kölle Foundation. The award honours outstanding scientific achievements in the field of water chemistry and is intended for young scientists who have made a special contribution to this scientific discipline.
The prize
The award includes a certificate and prize money of 3000 euros sponsored by the Walter-Kölle-Stiftung. The prize will be awarded on the occasion of the annual conference Water 2026, which will take place in Kiel from 11-13 May 2026. The prizewinner will be invited to present the award-winning research work in a scientific lecture at the conference. The costs of attending the conference will be borne by the specialist group. A prize committee consisting of at least three members of the specialist group evaluates the submissions; the final decision is made by the specialist group executive committee by majority vote.
Nomination
Nominations are open to people who have made outstanding achievements in the field of water chemistry and who are under the age of 40. Self-nominations are expressly excluded. All nominations consist of an informal justification with appreciation of the achievements and the curriculum vitae of the nominee (including e-mail address).
