Hellmut Bredereck Foundation

The Hellmut Bredereck Foundation was established at the GDCh in 1995 with the aim of supporting young scientists working in the former fields of work of Professor H. Bredereck (1904 - 1981). These are in the field of organic and bioorganic chemistry with a focus on carbohydrates as well as heterocycles, proteins and nucleotides. Funding is awarded in the form of a certificate and a monetary prize, which can generally be awarded every two years. Funding can also be provided in the form of scholarships or research grants. An advisory board consisting of four scientists and a member of Elisabeth Bredereck's family decides on the allocation of funds.

Hellmut Bredereck, who taught at the University of Stuttgart, was President of the Society of German Chemists in 1968/69.
